Conversational Portuguese (Beginner)
Our beginner level Portuguese language courses introduce participants to the basics of communicating in Portuguese in either personal or professional settings. Students will practice speaking, listening, reading and writing in class. They will also learn interesting facts on culture and customs, as well as tips on interacting with speakers from those cultures.
Portuguese Conversation Club (High Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced)
These 16-hour courses are designed for individuals who can already communicate at a high beginner, intermediate, or advanced level of proficiency in Portuguese. The teacher sets a relaxed and comfortable environment that encourages conversation and debate about a variety of topics that the students will choose. Through the various levels, the teacher will highlight a variety of cities and regions of Brazil, as well as the other Portuguese-speaking countries around the world. Students will discuss culture, customs, history, and current events.

Grades are based on a letter grade scale of A-F.
- A = 100-90%
- B = 89-80%
- C = 79-70%
- D = 69-60%
- F = 59-0%
Grades are derived from attendance (25%) and tests (75%).
Low Beginner 1A – 1C
Course materials are not included in the tuition. Valencia College will charge an additional $25 for the required textbook. The textbook will be distributed on the first day of class.
Please note that books must be purchased before the start of classes and are not included in the tuition. They are available at the West Campus Bookstore, which is located close to the Cafeteria, at the Osceola Campus Bookstore in Building 4, or at the Lake Nona Campus Bookstore in Room 135.
All of the information you need in order to buy books will be provided to you in your Registration Confirmation, including course title, book title, and store information. Please take this confirmation with you when you go to the bookstore so you know what books to buy.
Please make sure to have your books by the first day of class.
High Beginner 2A and 2B
Course materials are not included in the tuition. Valencia College will charge an additional $55 for the required textbook, which will be used for two courses. The textbook will be distributed on the first day of class.
